Daryle Singletary

BIO

It’s refreshing to know, that although there are many contemporary artists in mainstream Country music today, there’s one thing that’s certain – Daryle Singletary is the foundation for all things real country.  Artists of all ages from Nashville to New York profess that Daryle is the definition of what country music really is all about and what it really ought to be.

It’s no wonder that Daryle’s latest release echoes the fact that he is country to the core.  His newest CD, and debut for Shanachie Records, is honestly titled, Straight From The Heart.  This album is a display of material hand-picked by Daryle which showcases the many musical influences on his career. Each song for this release was carefully chosen and is very special to Daryle. You catch a glimpse of what Daryle is truly all about and you might say this CD is from his heart to yours.  Daryle states, “With what is going on in our industry today, I can say each artist I represent on this project, including myself, is/was true to themselves and their music.”

Drawing from the rich heritage and history which is the true foundation for country music, Daryle tapped into songs from some of the genre’s ground-breaking artists and unique stylists such as Merle Haggard, Don Williams, Mel Street, Keith Whitley, George Jones, Conway Twitty, Tammy Wynette, John Anderson, Buck Owens, and Randy Travis.  Daryle states, “I’m not trying to copy the original versions of these songs or out-sing the artists I represent.  I am performing these songs the best way I know how and am simply paying homage to some of the best artists this industry has ever known.  I want the next generation to hear a piece of country music’s legacy.”

On Straight From The Heart, Daryle is joined by John Anderson to perform one of John’s all-time greatest hits, Black Sheep.  He’s also coupled with long-time singing partner and award-winning artist, Rhonda Vincent.  Daryle and Rhonda once again hit a home run with the definitive Country duet entitled We’re Gonna Hold On – a song made famous by George Jones and Tammy Wynette.  Daryle professes, “Singing with Rhonda is simply magical. Her voice is pure and angelic. There’s nothing like it when I sing with her.  She does a stellar job on this duet and I’m proud to have her sing with me.”

Daryle affirms, “My love for carrying the tradition of country music is one of the main reasons why I moved to Nashville.  I grew up singing gospel music, but my true love is traditional country music.  These artists and their songs have been a huge influence on me and my career and it’s only fitting that I bring life, and honor to these artists and their material with this project.”

This disc is once again, the essence of all things country.  Whether it’s the rendition of the late, great Buck Owens’s hit, I’ve Got A Tiger By The Tail (with guest vocals by Grammy® Award winning artist, Ricky Skaggs), 15 Years Ago as originally sung by the great Conway Twitty, or Miami, My Amy, which was a landmark song in Keith Whitley’s career.

Daryle’s rendition of each song represents a milestone in each artist’s career and he so proudly and perfectly portrays these tunes by carrying on the tradition of real country music which comes straight from his heart.

Daryle debuted on the mainstream country music scene just over a decade ago. Since that time, he’s been a regular guest on the stage of the world-famous Grand Ole Opry and has garnered several country classics of his own including “Amen Kind Of Love, The Note, Too Much Fun, and his first #1, “I Let Her Lie”.  Daryle has also had the opportunity of touring America and being able to meet the best fans and people ever!
